Grace Achieng Otieno

Senior Fellow, Health Systems & Public Health

Biography

Grace Achieng Otieno holds degrees in epidemiology from the University of Nairobi and in health economics from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She spent several years at the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi, evaluating how financing mechanisms shape access to primary care, before joining the Institute in 2021.

She leads a multi-country study of community health-worker programmes that combines routine health-system data with structured interviews, and advises the health-systems programme on data-collection protocols and ethical review.

Her findings feed regional debates on the design of national health-insurance schemes, and she convenes the Institute's working group on measurement standards for primary-care access.
