Cookie policy
This policy explains what cookies are, the small number we use on this website, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our privacy notice.
This policy is effective from 12 May 2026 and applies to the website at internationalresearchinstitute.org. It should be read together with our privacy notice, which explains how we handle any personal data.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device to help it work, remember your preferences, or understand how the site is used. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do comparable things. We use as few of these as we reasonably can.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary
These keep the site secure and functioning — for example, remembering your cookie choices and protecting forms against misuse. They do not track you and cannot be switched off through the site, though your browser can block them at the cost of some functionality.
Analytics (optional)
With your consent, we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand, in aggregate, which research is read most and where the site could be improved. These are set only if you agree, are used in aggregate, and can be declined without affecting your access to our research. We do not use advertising cookies and do not build profiles for marketing.
Cookies we may set
- Consent preference — records your cookie choices so we do not ask on every visit. Strictly necessary; retained for up to twelve months.
- Session security — protects forms and maintains a secure session. Strictly necessary; expires when you close your browser.
- Aggregate analytics — measures page usage in aggregate. Optional; set only with consent and retained for a limited period.
Managing your choices
You can accept or decline optional cookies when you first visit, and change your mind at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them, and block new ones. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
Third parties
Some pages embed material from third parties — for example, event registration or media — which may set their own cookies. We keep these to a minimum and identify them where we can, but their use is governed by the relevant provider’s own policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes or the law develops. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Questions can be sent to privacy@internationalresearchinstitute.org or through our contact page.
