Terms of use

These terms set out the basis on which you may use the International Research Institute website and the research we publish through it.

These terms are effective from 12 May 2026. By accessing or using the website at internationalresearchinstitute.org (the “site”), you agree to them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. They should be read together with our privacy notice.

About the Institute

The International Research Institute (“IRI”, “we”, “us”) is an independent, non-partisan research organisation. The site provides peer-reviewed analysis, market intelligence and policy research for a professional, academic and public-interest audience.

IRI is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity in England and Wales. Its registered office is 2nd Floor, 40 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3UD, United Kingdom.

Using the site

You may access the site and read, download and cite our research for lawful, non-commercial and internal professional purposes, subject to the licence terms below. You agree not to:

  • use the site in a way that breaches any applicable law or regulation;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or connected systems;
  • interfere with the availability or integrity of the site, or introduce malicious code;
  • scrape, harvest or reproduce content at scale except as our licences permit;
  • misrepresent our research, quote it out of context, or imply our endorsement of any organisation, product or position.

Intellectual property and licensing

Except where stated otherwise, the text of our publications is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence. You are free to share and adapt that material provided you give appropriate credit, indicate any changes, and do not suggest we endorse you or your use. Each publication states its own licence and a copy-ready suggested citation.

The Institute’s name, logo and brand, the design and code of the site, and any third-party material identified as such are not covered by that licence and remain the property of IRI or its licensors. Datasets may carry their own terms, which are noted on the relevant page.

Research content and reliance

Our publications are produced for information and to inform public debate. They present independent analysis based on the data and methods each report describes. They are not investment, legal, medical, tax or other professional advice, and they should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice tailored to your circumstances. You remain responsible for any decision you take on the basis of our work.

Accuracy and availability

We take methodological care with everything we publish and correct material errors when we become aware of them. Even so, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.

Commissioned market research

Market-research engagements are governed by a separate written agreement between you and IRI. Where such an agreement conflicts with these terms, the agreement prevails for that engagement. You can discuss a brief through our market-research service.

Independence and funding

Our editorial independence is a condition of publication. Every report discloses its funding and methods, and no funder controls our findings. You can read more on our research independence page.

Links to third-party sites

The site links to external sources, partners and data providers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link does not imply endorsement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IRI is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or reliance on its content, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not affect any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you locally.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The version published on the site, with its effective date, is the one that applies to your use. Please review it periodically.
