Margaret Trevelyan-Hale appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees

London

The International Research Institute has appointed Margaret Trevelyan-Hale as Chair of its Board of Trustees, following an open process overseen by the board’s nominations committee.

The Board of Trustees of the International Research Institute has appointed Margaret Trevelyan-Hale as its Chair. She succeeds the founding chair, who stepped down at the close of the Institute’s founding term.

Trevelyan-Hale has spent much of her career in the governance of research and charitable organisations. As Chair she will lead the board that holds the Institute’s executive to account for its research standards, financial management and independence.

“The Institute’s value rests on the credibility of its evidence and the transparency of its methods,” Trevelyan-Hale said. “My first responsibility as Chair is to protect the independence that makes that evidence worth reading.”

Executive Director Adaeze Okonkwo said the appointment followed an open recruitment process overseen by the board’s nominations committee, with candidates assessed against published criteria.

The Institute’s governance arrangements, including the full membership of the Board of Trustees and its committees, are published on its website.
