AI & Digital Governance Policy Tracker

A rolling, source-linked record of national AI, data-protection and platform-regulation measures across 71 jurisdictions.

Overview

The AI & Digital Governance Policy Tracker is a structured, source-linked record of national and regional measures governing artificial intelligence, data protection and platform regulation, coded as they are adopted rather than reconstructed retrospectively. Each measure is classified by instrument type — binding law, regulation or voluntary code — and by scope, and every classification is reviewed by a second analyst before publication to limit coding error. The tracker supports comparative policy analysis for governments monitoring peer approaches, for businesses assessing compliance exposure across markets, and for researchers studying the diffusion of digital-governance models. It records what has been adopted, when and by whom, without offering a normative assessment of any single measure.

Methodology

Each measure is classified by instrument type and scope; classifications are reviewed by a second analyst before publication, and the coding schema is published with the release notes.

The full construction, weighting choices and coding rules are documented in the public codebook released with each version, and the dataset is published under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
