Emerging Market Trade & Productivity Dataset

Firm- and sector-level trade, output and productivity indicators for 54 emerging and frontier economies, 2008–2025.

Overview

This dataset combines firm- and sector-level trade, output and labour indicators for 54 emerging and frontier economies, built to support comparative study of productivity growth and trade integration outside the advanced-economy statistics that dominate most cross-country datasets. Sector-level productivity estimates use a standard growth-accounting decomposition, and trade values are deflated using country-specific price indices rather than a single global deflator, a choice documented in the accompanying technical note. The dataset is reconciled annually against national-accounts revisions, which occasionally results in retrospective adjustments to earlier years; a changelog accompanies every release.

Methodology

Sector-level productivity estimates use a standard growth-accounting decomposition; trade values are deflated to constant prices using country-specific price indices.

The full construction, weighting choices and coding rules are documented in the public codebook released with each version, and the dataset is published under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
